Our beautiful new consumer website is now up and running out there in cyberspace and we're pretty darned excited about it.
With a new, contemporary look and feel, it's not only much more strongly aligned to the Come Down For Air brand, but it's also a much happier, more functional user experience. You can read about all the fancy new features HERE.
Now we know that there are still some bugs to fix, maybe some typos, and even some things we may not have thought about, so we’d really love you to take a look around and send us your feedback by 10 January.
Remember, your product listing is pulled directly from the ATDW, so it may also be a good time to review your ATDW product listings and update your imagery so you can put your best foot forward in time for a launch campaign to the consumer market later in January. We've compiled a few hot tips to help you do that; you can find then HERE.
We'll be taking an early mark on Christmas Eve, but apart from that, the DST office will be operating on the normal business days during the Christmas and New Year period (not public holidays though!), albeit with reduced staff. We've staggered our leave to ensure that someone will be available to answer your calls during this time, but if you need to come into the office, we advise calling first on 6223 5650 to ensure someone is there. We also encourage you to take note of our new meeting procedures below.
New DST Meeting Procedures
One of the most productive, important and favourite parts of our job is meeting with you, our stakeholders. To reduce any risk to DST employees and stakeholders, we have adjusted our meeting and visitor procedures to comply with current public health advice as follows:
Where possible, meetings will take place online.
Where an in-person meeting is warranted, DST will arrange for the meeting to take place either outside or in well ventilated areas.
If DST staff attend meetings for periods longer than 15 minutes with any stakeholders and contractors, we expect the meeting attendees to be double vaccinated and follow all relevant public health directives. This will be communicated via email when confirming appointments.
All visitors to the DST office who spend longer than 15 minutes in the workspace, are expected to use the Check In TAS app, follow public health mask protocols and be double vaccinated.
Visitors who spend less than 15 minutes in the office (such as deliveries or pick-ups) are expected to use the Check In TAS app and maintain social distancing and public health advice for mask wearing indoors.
SUMMER EVENTS
Taste of Summer
Only six more sleeps until the new Taste of Summer festival kicks off on Hobart’s waterfront. From Tuesday 28 December through to Monday 3 January, 12.00pm – 11.00pm, the Taste is back and it’s more Tasmanian than ever. With 80 curated stallholders featuring the best from Tasmanian food and drink producers, along with a huge line up of Tassie’s finest entertainers, there will be something for everyone at the Taste. Safety has been a big factor in bringing back the Taste, with a masked-up crowd capped at 5,000 people and an innovative virtual queue helping to making it highly compliant and cruisy.
New Year’s Eve will go off with a bang at Hobart’s biggest party. Flight NYE2021 departs at 6.00pm, featuring a variety of ticket options and an outstanding line up of Tasmanian talent. NYE is supported by the Hobart Airport.
How can you support this event?
By disseminating information, encouraging bookings and helping visitors access tickets of course! General admission and New Year’s Eve tickets can be purchased HERE. A box office will operate during the festival opening hours but it’s cheaper and easier to book online in advance. It’s fantastic to have the Taste back and the team look forward to welcoming visitors and locals alike.
Mona Foma 2022
Mona Foma 2022 is only weeks away with the Launceston program on 21-23 January and the nipaluna / Hobart program on 28-30 January. Like last year, the MF team has created beautiful decals and stickers for those businesses wanting to jump on the MoFo train and align themselves with this flagship event.
The stickers and decals will be available to pick up from the DST office from Wednesday (tomorrow), but we strongly recommend you call before coming to ensure someone is there to let you in. Also, please refer to our visitor procedures above. We'll also be sending out some digital files, including a style guide, very soon.
The Tasmanian Wine Festival is returning for its third run at the Royal Tasmanian Botanical Gardens February 18 – 20, 2022, featuring over 30 Tasmanian vineyards and wine from all around Tasmania. There'll also be food aplenty, and the main stage will welcome local and interstate musicians, (program yet to be announced).
For more information, including for those wanting to become a stallholder, visit the website.
Merry Christmas
As we approach the end of another challenging year I would like to take a moment to thank you for your continued support of our organisation and wish you every happiness for the coming festivities and the following year. We all have much to be proud of this year and this period causes us all to reflect on that. Many of us have taken this year to rebuild and adjust business models in an ever changing environment, open new products and worked to support their workforce to remain employed and connected. At every event we held this year (and there were many!), the overriding sentiment was one of resilience and positivity. Please know that we are here to support you now and into the future and our board of directors and team wish you a safe and happy Christmas and look forward to working with you in the future.
