Tasmania's 2030 Visitor Economy Strategy launched
It is a bold and ambitious plan that strives to increase the visitor economy’s contribution and positive impact on our community, economy, environment, industry, visitors and Tasmania as a destination.
In recognition of the of industry’s contribution to the economy, the Tasmanian Government also announced an additional funding commitment of $12 million over three years to ensure the strategy builds on our strong foundations and contributes to addressing some of our challenges.
The funding will support key projects aligned to the strategy including investment in our workforce, attracting business events to Tasmania, a 10-year infrastructure plan and stimulating more private investment in tourism products.
The strategy will be implemented through three year action plans that will allow for a responsive approach to changing industry needs, the market environment and broader economic and community context.
Have your say to help inform the current skill shortage facing the tourism industry. Complete the survey here.
ATDW Digital Transformation
ATDW is currently undergoing an exciting transformation. The transformation includes a new company name and brand, and most importantly a new world-class platform. Some of the key improvements include:
New Homepage Dashboard
New look and feel dashboard, prompting when your profile is due to expire, ability to view your expired and inactive profiles, and enabling more functionality particularly for operators with multiple profiles.
New User Permissions
Added ability to assign different users on your account different access permissions to your profiles, including Manager, Editor and Viewer only status.
Improved and quicker QA
We have optimised the QA processes, which we anticipate will result in quicker review by our team, and access to 'retract' your profile from the queue and continue editing.
Improved User friendly interface
The whole experience of creating and managing your profile now, should be easier, quicker and enjoyable, including the ability to modify and edit your photos in the platform.
Stay tuned for a series of workshops to guide you through the changes. Discover more here.

A summary of loans, grants and support currently available:
Tourism Emissions Reduction Grant Program
The Tourism Emissions Reduction Grant Program is part of a $1.5 million package focused on supporting emissions reduction activities in the tourism and hospitality industry.
One-off grants of up to $50,000 to small business and up to $100,000 to medium and large business will be provided to implement projects to reduce the emissions that align with one or more of the following themes:
Successful applicants will receive a grant of between $1,000 and $1,500 to obtain financial or business guidance services from a suitably qualified specialist/consultant.
An alternative to the previous Tourism Development Loan Scheme (TDLS), the BGLS is open to all industries, including tourism. Compared to the TDLS, there are a couple of criteria differences to note:
The BGLS loans attract a variable rate of 5.89% from day one
The applicant must demonstrate that they cannot achieve finance in the commercial market. The program is not intended to compete with banks, so more often these loans are co-funding with a bank were the applicant was not able to obtain full funding through commercial channels.
Touring grants of up to $20,000 are available to eligible organisers of auto, motorbike, cycle or walking tours in Tasmania during the winter and shoulder season. Funding is based on the number of interstate or international participants staying in paid commercial accommodation for five nights or more, with 40 percent or more of the tour being held in regional areas.
The Scheme will provide no-interest loans of between $500 and $10,000 over three years to eligible households, residential landlords, small businesses and community organisations to fund investment in energy-efficient products.
Southern Tasmania has an incredible line-up of markets and events over the coming month. These events all drive strong visitation from local and interstate markets, so to help you get a piece of the action, here's a summary of what's on and when:
