Paying it Forward

We have recently introduced a new member benefit to our prized Ultimate partners. We have invited them to help strengthen the tourism community by nominating a not-for-profit organisation or social enterprise that would benefit from a complimentary one-year DST Essential Membership.

This ‘pay it forward’ initiative aims to ensure inclusive access to industry networks, insights, and advocacy. It's our way of working with our Ultimate members to support those who are doing good work in our community.

Not surprisingly, the team of dynamos at The Old Woolstore Apartment Hotel and Hadley's Orient Hotel has been the first to jump on board, nominating Art Farm Birchs Bay as their gift recipient. Art Farm Birchs Bay is a not-for-profit association that fosters engagement between community, art and the landscape at Five Bob Farm in southern Tasmania (Lutruwita) through a sculpture prize, residencies, exhibitions, and events.

    POSITIVE IMPACT IN ACTION

    Woodlands Huon Valley

Flowers repurposed to deliver random acts of kindness

The wonderful Susie Hunt (whom many will know from from her tenure at DST) is living her dream, running garden tours, a roadside stall and an event floristry business from her beautiful property at Lucaston.

If you are lucky enough to be the beneficiary of her services for your event, you have the option of spreading the joy even further by having Woodlands Huon Valley rearrange the best of your ‘leftover’ flowers and deliver to a charity of your choice at no cost.

In keeping with her positive impact values, Susie also promises no floral foam, no single use plastics, only biodegradable and recycled packaging, no refrigerated transport, no excessive use of fertilisers, no pesticides and low flower kilometres (using natives whenever possible). She is also busy raising money to purchase and set up a Biochar Kiln for community use in the Huon.

For a fantastic example of a Positive Impact statement, visit the Woodlands website HERE.
